"The
importance of passionately pursuing your dreams must never be
underestimated"
Press Release for Network
Media
Four
young men paddled, in two
double sea kayaks, 3,210 miles for 107 days from Yellowstone National Park to New Orleans.
The
journey began September 2nd and
finished December 15th as the team
traveled along the Yellowstone, Missouri and
Mississippi River Systems. They demonstrated “that great feats can be
accomplished by actively pursuing your dreams.”
Called the ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS EXPEDITION, they
expect to raise $200,000 for Make A Wish Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs, American
Youth Foundation, Reconnecting Youth and other
organizations that encourage youth to broaden their horizons, set goals and
dream. Tax-deductible donations are
being accepted on the web site ayde.org through the Central Indiana Community Foundation, where
98% of all funds go to the designated charities.
Expedition coordinator and leader
is Geoff Faerber, 24, a Wabash College basketball captain and alum from
Indianapolis, Indiana. Geoff met Woody
Miller, 21, a James Madison University senior and Division I gymnast from St. Louis,
Missouri along with David Bradley, 21, a third year medical student at
Edinburgh, Scotland and native of Northern Ireland, while leading youth groups
on outdoor adventure trips for the American Youth Foundation. The fourth expedition member is
Nate Paulson, 23, from the Pacific Northwest,
a graduate of Western Washington University
and a veteran leader of youth programs. They each have a passion for working with
and mentoring kids. See pictures
and read about the guys on the web-site.
The kayaking journey is chronicled on the web-site, with an awesome photo gallery and an "in their own words" journal divided into the various segments of the Expedition.
Paddling an average
of 30 miles per day put them in the Gulf of Mexico on Friday December 15. On Saturday night the Expedition was interviewed by New Orleans NBC and FOX television.
